sometimes okay should be enough
happiness should be found in the simple
the melody of a song
a beautiful family
a conversation with an old friend.
but at times
life is too much
and knowing it's good
doesn't make it so.
thankfulness is overshadowed
by disappointment
the uphill never peaks.
a longing for
the joy of the downhill run,
carefree and easy.
but feet drag and breath is heavy
and past and future joy
cannot sustain the present.
